General Motors' most awaited car, Chevrolet Beat Diesel launch is expected in Indian auto market by 2nd week of July. Due to the hike in the petrol prices, this diesel car is anticipated to cater large volumes.
Sources have revealed that this hatchback car will be powered by a 936cc, 3 cylinder engine procuring 57 bhp power at 4000 rpm and an excellent torque of 150 Nm at 1750 rpm. This car is expected to create a milestone as it is the first car having 3-cylinder engine, to be launched into the Indian hatchback segment. Furthermore, its engine is based on ECOTEC technology i.e Emissions Control Optimisation Technology making it environment friendly. There is also a buzz that this upcoming car will incorporate very smooth gearbox and clutch and will sport excellent NVH levels enabling it to attain an rpm upto 5000.
Other then this, an electric power steering is also on cards which is suppose to be used for smooth driving and parking. Along with it, a suspension system will ensure smooth driving even on rough surfaces. According to ARAI this hatchback car is expected to give a mileage of 24 Kmpl however General Motors India is eyeing to ramp this mileage to 28 Kmpl. Chevrolet Beat Diesel price is likely to be higher than its petrol variant.
Another car that General Motors India is mulling to launch is the revised version of Chevrolet Captiva which expected to hit Indian roads by October 2011. Sources have anticipated that new Chevrolet Captiva will be powered by a 2.0 litre engine.
